Who doesn’t love to get pampered once in a while?

And Jackie never felt more glamorous than during her photo shoot for her album ‘Awakening.’

Jackie Evancho Talks Singing Practice [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO] by Ali Szubiak November 25, 2014 5:34 PM

Our favorite young classical-crossover singer, Jackie Evancho, is back with another video where she shares more of her favorite things. This time she talks about something we’ve really been dying to get more information on — her singing!

That’s right, this video is all about Jackie’s typical practice sessions and how long she spends perfecting her impeccable vocals. When we found out just how much she practices, we were surprised: “I typically practice singing for one hour and I know that I should practice more but it’s usually once a week.” What?! How is it even possible to be that good with that little practice!? We’re totally jealous.

She then goes on to talk about how important feedback about her singing is, and that her mom is the perfect critic: “I look to my mom to give me honest feedback on areas I can sharpen.”

Jackie ends the video with some great advice for anyone who wants to make a career out of singing, or anything, really. “Practicing is important in order to be the best at what you do and as they say, practice makes perfect.” Sounds about right!

Jackie Evancho via PopCrush 'Jackie Evancho Dishes on Hair and Makeup [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]'

In our latest installment of ‘Hanging Out With Jackie Evancho,’ the classical-crossover prodigy is dishing on her hair, makeup and beauty routine! Best thing ever? She just learned how to do a fishtail braid!

The 14-year-old singer may boast a voice and a talent way beyond her years, but in many ways, Jackie Evancho is just like your typical teen — lip gloss, YouTube tutorials and all.

“I never leave the house without pink lip gloss and Chapstick,” Jackie reveals in the video above. She may have recently learned to do a fishtail braid (and admits that she learns new styles from mags and YouTube vids), but unfortunately her little sister won’t let her do her hair. Boo! But it’s OK, because Jackie has plenty of practice on her own — especially because most of the time, she’ll do her own hair and makeup for shows. Pretty cool!

“I love wearing lace, florals, and anything comfortable,” Jackie recently revealed in the video above. In fact, she’s so much about comfort that she’d don sweats most days if it were socially acceptable.

“I’d wear sweatpants every day if I could,” she joked.

And while Jackie also revealed that she loves to go shopping with friends and try on different clothes, she explained that she’s pretty organized when it comes to what she wants to wear any given week.

“I try to plan a week’s worth of outfits,” she said. Pretty impressive!

Jackie Evancho Puts Finishing Touches on New Album, Promises Big 'Surprise' via Billboard.com

By Gary Graff Detroit | May 01, 2014 9:33 AM EDT
Fourteen-year-old classical-pop crossover star Jackie Evancho plans to add songwriting to her skill set on her forthcoming studio album.
Evancho tells Billboard the project, which she's currently recording on in a studio near her home in suburban Pittsburgh, will feature one of her own songs, though she's keeping the title secret.
"It's supposed to be a surprise, I'm sorry," Evancho says. "I'm really excited. I kinda just started (writing) last year; it was really fun to kind of make up little tunes on the piano, and I just decided to add words to those tunes and record them and kind of make it into a song layout. It's fun, and I'm really excited to expose that side to people, too."
Evancho says the album, which follows 2012's "Songs From the Silver Screen" and is being produced by Nick Patrick, is "almost completely done; we're just waiting to do the recording of the orchestra and stuff like that. It's not anything that's themed like my last CD -- just a bunch of songs that I enjoy singing, pop to opera, all over the place. It's going to be awesome."
Evancho says a title and release date haven't been locked-in yet, while a PBS special based on the album is also being planned.
Meanwhile, Evancho has shows planned into the summer, and after appearing in the 2013 film "The Company You Keep" and modeling for Guess Kids, hopes to keep finding different creative endeavors.
"I'd love to do a Broadway show, but I can't because of the style I sing," she notes. "that's not the style they're looking for, and I kind of cherish the kind of music that I sing now, so I don't see that happening soon. Right now I think I just want to sing and try to make the world a better place. Anything that I can do with my voice that's good, I'll try to do."

You Should Know Jackie Evancho By Lauren Davidson - Pittsburgh Magazine

This 13-year-old with four albums, national tours and television and film appearances on her resume has a big future — and a big heart.

When Richland Township native Jackie Evancho competed in her first singing competition in 2008, she was 8 years old. Her parents, Michael and Lisa Evancho, hadn’t yet recognized her singular talent — a mature soprano voice capable of interpreting both show tunes and arias with the apparent ease of a Broadway star.

But Evancho’s performance in that first contest led to success in larger competitions and eventually a record deal. Since then, she has been the youngest artist to debut on Billboard’s Top 10, competed on “America’s Got Talent” and become the youngest-ever solo artist to produce a platinum album.

Evancho also has worked in modeling and film — in 2012, she played Robert Redford’s daughter in “The Company You Keep” after he heard her sing on television and asked her to audition. This year she will release her fifth album, which will include a song Evancho wrote. Most of all, she says she’s enjoying being a teenager and spending time with her many pets: four dogs, fish and a frog.

You’ve been on TV, performed for the president and toured all over the world. Is it hard to feel like a regular teenager?
Actually no. I think that it doesn’t matter if I travel all over the place. I’ll always be a normal teenager on the inside. It always depends on how you act yourself, not what happens to you. That’s my view of it all.

Does it ever overwhelm you to have accomplished so much at such a young age?
It never really does overwhelm me, but I am thankful for everything I have. I try not to let it overwhelm me because that’s when you start thinking highly of yourself and you start turning into a diva, and that’s the last thing I want to be.

Tell us about the foundations you work with.
I’m an ambassador for the Humane Society, and we work to try to help seals and to stop [seal] clubbing. I love seals, and I think it’s really sad that not just seals but animals all over the place are becoming extinct because people just don’t care anymore. It’s something I’m really passionate about.

What has been the best part of your career so far?
Just being able to share my gift with everyone. That’s really all I want, to be able to change the world with my voice.

Where does that impulse come from?
My family always says I have a golden heart [laughs].

Do you think it’s important for people in the public eye to want to change the world?
Of course. Those people who are in the limelight can afford to do stuff like this . . . They can get the word out and spread the cause.

How has your family [Jackie has two brothers and a sister] responded to your fame?
My family still treats me like they did when I was 7 or 6. They still treat me like the normal Jackie, and they’re just really supportive and nice and I love them very much.

So you still have to do chores at home?
Yeah, I do. I actually like chores sometimes. I always like to have my hands doing something.

A lot of people may be surprised to realize you have no formal training.
I work really hard at my craft, and we check in with the world’s best coaches and doctors just to make sure my voice is in tiptop shape. Just because I don’t take lessons every week doesn’t mean I don’t work at it.

What else surprises people about you?
I love archery, and I’m pretty good, even though I haven’t had any lessons.

What’s your favorite place you’ve visited?
I loved going to Tokyo, Japan, but the No. 1 place will always be Pittsburgh.

What do you love about your hometown?
A lot of places don’t have seasons — it’s always really cold all the time or really warm all the time. In Pittsburgh, you get cold in the winter, warmth in spring and summer and slightly chilly in the fall. You get the best of both worlds. And people here in western Pennsylvania are really nice, and they treat me like family and that’s something that I love.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I just see myself singing, and singing for a good reason and trying to help the world.

5 Questions with teen singing sensation Jackie Evancho By Marshall Terrill, Special to GetOut

By Marshall Terrill, Special to GetOut
5 Questions with teen singing sensation Jackie Evancho

Jackie Evancho, a 13-year-old classical crossover star who debuted on the national stage on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” seems to only get bigger and better with age.

Inspired to sing by watching Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical film adaptation “The Phantom of the Opera,” Evancho developed mature vocal abilities that belie her years. She will appear Jan. 18 at Phoenix’s Celebrity Theatre. The teen sensation called GetOut while on a flight layover to discuss her meteorite-like career, professional milestones and her upcoming Phoenix concert.

Q: Do you ever think about the fact that had you never watched the movie “Phantom of the Opera,” your life would be totally different?

JE: I know that my career probably wouldn’t have taken off like it did, but I would like to think that somehow or another I would have found my musical voice and would be singing no matter what. I was singing in a lot of talent contests before “America’s Got Talent,” but that did change everything. I’m just glad it worked out the way it did.

Q: You’ve now been in the public spotlight for a few years. How do you maintain a sense of normalcy?

JE: I have always despised people who thought they were better than others, and I made a promise to myself that I’d never turn into that kind of person. My family also helps to keep me grounded. Whenever I get a “diva moment,” as they like to call it, they let me know it and say, “Stop acting like a diva!” They’re pretty good at it, too.

Q: You talk a lot about wanting to be a good role model. Why is that important to you?

JE: That’s pretty easy to answer — there are not a lot of role models out there anymore. It’s important that people my age have someone to look up to, so my goal is to be the best person I can be.

Q: There are so many milestones in your career: your debut on “America’s Got Talent,” working with legends like David Foster and Robert Redford, two PBS specials, five albums, headlining Carnegie Hall and singing at the National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at the White House in front of President Obama. Is there one event that stands out?

JE: Each one of those milestones has deep meaning for me, so I don’t know if I could possibly choose one that meant more. But it all started with “America’s Got Talent,” so that has to be the sentimental favorite because I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the show.

Q: What can we expect at your Celebrity Theatre show?

JE: People can expect to hear my favorite songs from all of my CDs. Recently we changed the song lineup to make things a little more fresh. I’m just very excited and looking forward to playing there. It’s going to be loads of fun.
