Jackie Evancho`s Upcoming PBS Special Music of the Movies

Jackie Evancho To Record PBS Special for GREAT PERFORMANCES
Twelve-year-old classical crossover prodigy Jackie Evancho will record a new GREAT PERFORMANCES special in Los Angeles at the Orpheum Theater on June 13.  Jackie Evancho: Music of the Movies will feature Jackie singing arrangements of favorite songs from the movies (the full set list is below.)  Jackie will release an album of movie songs this fall.
Jackie Evancho got her big break at just 10 years old as a contestant on America’s Got Talent, where the break out star finished in second place.  Her first release for Columbia Records, a Christmas EP titled O Holy Night, was certified Platinum and earned  Jackie the distinction of being the top-selling debut artist in 2010 as well as the youngest solo artist ever to go platinum and debut in the Top 10.  In 2011 she released Dream With Me, her debut major label full-length.  Dream With Me was produced by the legendary David Foster, and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart and is certified Gold.  She recorded Dream With Me In Concert for GREAT PERFORMANCES in 2011, and the special rapidly became one of PBS’ most broadcast programs of the year.

  1. Hello Jackie Junkies,

Being a keen blogger and educational blog commenter in a number of countries, I rarely follow blogs outside education. However, I viewed your blog and appreciate how much effort has gone into your support of Jackie and the Evancho family.

Whilst I have worked with very many children while a teacher and am now more involved with DVD production for school and community groups after retirement from full time teaching, I have come across a number children with outstanding talent but never anyone with the maturity of voice found in Jackie. She is one of those very rare children with extraordinary talent.

Judging by the PBS Special Music of the Movies program, this will be another outstanding performance. The pity is, the PBS specials don't screen in Australia. Perhaps you or TopShotUS will share the show if copyright allows.

Thank you for the follow & the nice comment.
Sony is very strict with the distribution of all of Jackie`s endeavors.I hope it will not be too long before Music of the Movies will be available in Australia.
You can e-mail me at jackiejunkies@gmail.com & I may be able to get you a copy as soon as the DVD becomes available to the general public.

  3. I am so glad that the last three songs are from movies for our children and young people.
I believe that Jackie's message to the world of light, joy, peace and love is going to have and probably already is having a profound effect on increasing numbers of young people. And its not only that she herself is so young, but that there's an easier connection between members of the same generation. The up coming generation needs to hear and see Jackie perform for in her performances there is connection made to God, or if you prefer, the Divine. Jackie is able to project to her audience a connection with that. Here in the Western world especially, many really need that, as spirituality isn't high on our daily agendas. I believe that in the end it won't be Jackie's extraordinary voice that she will be known for, it will be her loving and giving nature that opens avenues and receptivity to that in others. And our children really need that. She is truly a gift to us from God to help us all acknowledge that we are all One. May she be empowered and blessed to do that throughout her life. We love you Jackie. :-)
